Corona Diaries 6—He isn’t risen. Not quite yet.

Happy Easter dear friends and family who celebrate this the most important holiday in Christendom. Pushing two week of inactivity and isolation I’ve had some corona diaries dark days and am not quite risen myself yet, but I do feel slightly improved. Kara has been taking excellent care of me, trying to tempt my appetite in the short random windows when the nausea drops and I feel like taking nourishment.

In the meantime look how good the Bunny was to me! The basket in the foreground comes from a certain mycologist Angel from West Chester. Items include mushroom soup, hand sanitizer, masks, canned peaches and look, look inside the Croc box — OMG German Chocolate cupcakes! Kimberly, I send you this virtual hug.

Somebody Chrissakes explain to me why it’s so important to call it The Chinese Virus when there is so much stupidity, criminal neglect and failure right on our own doorstep. This evil clown gets up every day and tries to rewrite history, but I’m not buying and I’m definitely not forgetting.

He’d love to sue TV networks into silence. He’d love to “disappear” reporters, doctors and whistleblowers like they do in China but there is a record of days and statements made on those days and the record damns him. He will finally face his ignorance this fall and I for one can’t wait.

Chinese officials are out there tweeting and rewriting their own sordid contribution to this shameful history. Lucky them, they get to disappear any scientist, doctor or reporter whose report deviates from the party line. Trump can try and his most faithful will erase those parts of this timeline from their minds but they can’t erase the truth.

I’ve solved all the world’s problems in my pointy head.

I’m not watching the WH press conferences. I can’t. I’m queasy enough as it is, but I’m wondering where Harvard’s dimmest bulb is in this. After successfully solving the Middle East crisis and building the wall, then standing up and telling the governors that the strategic medical reserves are his, not theirs, where is Robber Realtor Robin when the Batman need him? All I can say is I look to Govs. Cuomo, Murphy, Wolf, DeWine and they’re officials you can trust. They’re the heroes–doing what needs to be done without covering themselves in undeserved glad-handed praise. And while they’ve been forced to praise and suck up to Trump to get what they need for their people, I’d love to hear what they have to say AFTER the hump of the crisis.

This morning I read a great article in the New Yorker about what Shakespeare wrote on the plague: https://bit.ly/2yO9xWf. The ending of the article referring to Macbeth nailed it:

Shakespeare… “focused his attention instead on a different plague, the plague of being governed by a mendacious, morally bankrupt, incompetent, blood-soaked, and ultimately self-destructive leader.”

I was thinking it was Shakespeare who also said “Everything old is new again” but it is his successor Jonathan Swift. https://www.dailykos.com/stories/2019/7/14/1871717/-Everything-Old-Is-New-Again-A-Voice-from-History
